LUXURY

Best Luxurious Swimming Pool

SHARE:

Positioned on the west side of Seven Seas Lagoon, one monorail stop away from the Magic Kingdom (the G-Flo practically radiates luxury. It’s got a gigantic swimming pool – one that ducks occasionally mistake for the lagoon – and a few years back, added a new concourse with Deluxe Villas and a large water play area. The G-Flo is also home to some of Disney’s best restaurants, including the famed Victoria & Albert’s.

Maybe it was our age when we stopped by for dinner at V&A’s – we were on our honeymoon in our mid-20s – but my wife and I both felt out of place at the G-Flo. It seemed to have a formality to its very oxygen molecules, and even though we’d dressed up for the meal, we felt like interlopers.

For us, there’s no finer resort than one just next door, on the south side of the lagoon: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The contrast was stark. Where the G-Flo felt stuffy, the Poly just felt relaxed. Maybe it was all the Hawaiian shirts, or maybe the Cast Members there get some special instruction on being a bit laid-back.

But it’s an intimate resort with beautiful views of the Magic Kingdom,

lots to do, and great food – don’t miss the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, and I hear that O’Hana is superb as well.

If you’re going to splurge on a Deluxe Resort at WDW, you can’t go wrong at the Poly.
